Grooming
Services we offer:
BATHING
All dogs bathed with us get two full shampoo washes (to ensure they are extra clean) and conditioner is applied depending on the coat type
CLIPPING
Clipping is the use of electric clippers on the dogs coat. Not all coat types are suitable for clipping but we will discuss this with you at your appointment.
SCISSORING
Popular scissored coats are poodles and Bichons. The coat needs to be in top condition and free from matts in order to carry out hand scissoring so you will need to brush your dog daily if you want it's coat scissored.
HANDSTRIPPING
This is were the dead coat is removed from the dog in a plucking method. Mainly used on wire coated dogs, it helps to retain the correct texture and colour of the coat. Not all wire coats are are suitable for stripping so a consultation will be needed before an appointment is made when we will discuss this with you.
DE-SHEDDING
This is the removal of dead coat. If your dog is moulting heavily they may need to come in for this service. Common breeds that come in to the salon for de-shedding are Labradors.
EAR CLEANING
This is the removal of hair and dirt build up in the ears. This is very important as it can cause infection.
NAIL CLIPPING
Clipping of the toe nails is important for the comfort of your dog. You should check their nails once a month – if they are not touching the ground when the dog is standing they may be ok, if they appear long or are curling under they need clipping.
BATH & BLOWDRY
We offer a bath and blowdry service for dogs that only require this. First we shampoo and condition your pooch, then we give them a relaxing blow dry and brush to remove hair build up etc. We also offer this service for dogs that need a freshen up in-between grooms.
There are many ways of keeping your dog’s coat healthy and at its best. Regular grooming will help to keep the coat clean and free from matts and knots and in good condition all year round. It helps to create a good bond between us humans and our canine friends and it gets them used to being handled.
It also gives us (the groomer) the opportunity to visually check the dog for any health issues that may arise in your precious pooch eg. any lumps or bumps, skin conditions or ear infections. We can then notify the owner to seek veterinary advice.
We are often asked “when is the best time to bring our puppy in for its first groom?”.
We usually advise that once your pup has been fully inoculated by your vet you should bring him in to meet us, maybe just to say hi and to sit with us for a little while, or just for a little bath and blow dry just to get him used to the hustle and bustle of a busy grooming salon. Then when the puppy is ready for their first full groom it will be a less stressful experience for him.
All puppies coming into the grooming salon for the first time need bring along their vaccination records to show to the groomer that they are covered.
